Papua New Guinea Update

This year from May 27 to 31st an EARS Inc volunteer Paul Flynn from Victoria will be flying up to Port Moresby to meet with 8 staff from Callan, including the audiometry students Jane and Desmond, in order to run training in equipment calibration and servicing.

This trip will hopefully allow all the screening audiometers used in the 19 resource centres of the Callan Services Network around PNG to be calibrated and any damaged equipment to be evaluated and maybe even repaired.

In preparation for this visit, while I was in the clinic in Wewak, we pulled out all the old equipment - some working some not. We packed it ready for people to take in their bags to Port Moresby ready for Paul’s visit.

So much needs to be done in that training week, let’s hope we can get enough sets of equipment out of all the pieces we have to give each resource centre a set of working screening equipment for them to continue their excellent work of ear and hearing screening and prevention programs around PNG.
